ISLAMABAD: Federal Minster for Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has said that Export Processing Zone would be established in Gwadar and 1000 acre land has been acquired for the project. The government will also provide special discounts and other facilities to develop the industry at the zone. He stated this while chairing a meeting of the Gwadar Port Review Committee here on Wednesday. Balochistan Minster for Industries Syed Ahsan Shah and Chief Secretary Balochistan were also present at the meeting. The minster said that the government was determined to make Gwadar port the economic hub of the world, which would accelerate the socio-economic development process of the country. He said that the port was already functional and more than 500 trucks were engaged in fertiliser transportation, while the port will also be used for wheat imports.Wattoo said that promises by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to the people of the province will be fulfilled. He said that the people and the government of the province were fully cooperating with the federal government which will help successfully complete the development plan in the province.
He said that this port will also lead to raising the living standard of the people by generating more job opportunities, and added that all components of the Gwadar port master plan would be implemented.
The set of recommendations for establishing of the EPZ would soon be presented to the cabinet for approval.
